Liberty Bank
During Covid-19 pandemic Liberty Bank took an unprecedented decision and implemented a 100 million GEL plan of advance pension payment with its own resources.
Under this initiative and at the bank’s decision, prior to introduction of the lockdown, primarily the customers over 70 in high-risk group were paid pensions for March, April and May in advance from the resources of the Bank, followed by similar payments to customers aged from 60 to 70. Besides, the bank introduced a special remote service – payment of utility bills with one call to the center.
For the purposes of proper notification of the society the information about the initiative was announced on television as well as in online media in Georgian, Armenian and Azeri languages. In regions and villages local governments were involved. Liberty Bank employees, local and Red Cross volunteers were also involved in organizing queues in the bank service centers and informing public.
This precedent changed the established general pension payment rules in the entire country. A special site was launched, where the customers could see the date of the pension payment/deposition, also they can manage their accounts remotely without leaving homes.
