JSC Foodmart, representative of Spar in Georgia

JSC Foodmart is an exclusive holder of the right to use Spar trade mark in Georgia. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic related complications and emergency situation all over the world, the first pandemic wave had a significant financial and economic impact on our country. From the very beginning Foodmart was aware of the huge responsibility it had towards the country and the society. It is the first and the only company which initiated support to the citizens of Georgia trapped abroad, who were unable to return to the country due to cancellation of the international flights and required prompt assistance. The project was symbolically named Support from Spar without borders. 

 It commenced on March 20, 2020 immediately after the pandemic outbreak, and right away after the emergency conditions were introduced into the country and air transportation was suspended. It continued for 2 months and ended on May 25, 2020. 

Through collaboration between JSD Foodmart and the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the beneficiaries as well as their locations were identified; this was followed by delivery of food product vouchers of over €50,000 value to 2,000 Georgian citizens in up to 20 countries worldwide, organized by Foodmart. This project was implemented with support of Spar International, which promptly organized the voucher issue in the Spar network in the mentioned European countries.
