Alterwaste
When this project started, there was no waste oil processing plant in Georgia and there were no legislative regulations in place regarding waste oil (regulations only came into force on January 1, 2023). The company's management started negotiations with MOTOROIL HELLAS, one of the largest companies operating in the field, and its subsidiary, L.P.C S.A, the Corporation of Processing and Trading of Lubricants and Petroleum Products and started collecting secondary waste oil and exporting it to Greece within the framework of the Basel Convention. In parallel with these processes, the establishment of a call center, creating a potential partners network and the formation of a communication strategy were taking place with a view to dealing with waste oil.
In 2022, the Alterwaste team collected and regenerated 1,000,000 liters of waste oil. The project employed ten people on a permanent basis including call center operators and logistics managers who have been directly involved in the process of the collection of waste oil.
At the beginning of 2023, Ltd Alterwaste put a waste oil processing plant into operation in the town of Rustavi. The new enterprise will be able to process and regenerate 150 tons of waste oil per month that will mean recycling 1,800 tons per year. The plant will employ about 100 people. The harmful practices related to waste oil management will disappear the negative export-import balance will be reduced and local production will develop.
