Salome Tvalodze is the Head of the Sustainable Finance Division and a member of the Financial Stability Committee at the National Bank of Georgia (NBG). She joined the NBG in 2011 and has held various positions including the Head of the Macro-financial Modeling and Analysis Division and the Chief Economist for the Macroeconomic Research Division. Salome has been leading the development of the NBG’s Sustainable Finance Framework since 2017. She is the NBG’s representative at the NGFS and SBFN (Sustainable Banking and Finance Network). She is the Co-chair of the Data & Disclosure Working Group at SBFN and a member of the Sustainable Finance Instruments Working Group.
Since September 2023, she has been a member of the Technical Committee of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Banking Sector.
Salome has an MS degree in Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an MA degree in Economics from ISET. She is a Ph.D. candidate working on incorporating ESG considerations into macro-financial analysis. She is also a Sustainability and Climate Risk (SCR) Certificate holder from the GARP. Salome has many years of teaching experience and is currently a Visiting Lecturer at Tbilisi State University. She has authored several research papers.
