Tamta Chumburidze is the Leading Specialist for the Committee on European Integration of the Parliament of Georgia. She holds a Master’s degree in Law. She has spent the last 20 years in the public service working to approximate Georgian legislation to that of the EU. She took part in the initial effort that addressed the intellectual property laws of the EU. She co-authored the Law of Georgia on the Protection of Consumer Rights. She has spent 20 years working to bring electronic communications, children, women, disabled people, employees’ rights and safety norms, to the EU standards of labor migration.
Tamta Chumburidze hosted the Kanoni (The Law) radio program created with the support of the Friedrich Ebert organization. She works an Expert for the Estonian Center for Political Studies and has trained staff members of Tbilisi City Hall and the City Council in the area of public engagement. She also served as an advisor to the Georgian delegation to the OSCE and as the coordinator of the group of the Parliament's apparatus for approximation with EU legislation. Furthermore, she worked on the recent 12 requests of the European Commission vis-à-vis Georgia’s EU candidate status.
From 2004 until present, Tamta Chumburidze has been working toward achieving approximation with EU legislation and has participated in international conferences. She completed the one-year EU training on European integration and the also one-year NDI training on leadership skills for women. She has also completed trainings of the Konrad Adenauer organization, GIZ, Parliament of Georgia, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Civil Service Bureau of Georgia, Polish Consumer Rights Protection Inspectorate, German Ministry of Internal Affairs and Migration Center, Estonian Migration and Resettlement Center and the Center for Political Studies. She is familiar with the parliamentary structure of several EU member states and the system of the activities of the EU Research Center. She is certified as a trainer in her fields and has received commendations for her outstanding achievements in public affairs not only from Parliament of Georgia but also, from Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.
