Liberty Bank
The goal of the Liberty Bank accessibility project for persons with disabilities is to provide equal opportunities for persons with disabilities (PWDs) in dealing with the financial sector, thereby ensuring equal access to bank services and supporting the protection of the rights of persons with disabilities in the country.
The project echoes Liberty Bank's vision: to care for and improve the lives of people and their families in Georgia.
The accessibility project for people with disabilities includes six main directions:
1) Improvement of physical access for PWDs – infrastructure.
2) Improvement of access to services for PWDs – simplification and technological provision.
3) Retraining of Liberty staff – service, rights of PWDs.
4) Challenging stereotypes related to PWDs in society.
5) Employment of PWDs.
6) Advocacy – amending National Bank regulations in a joint effort with non-governmental and international organizations.
Within the scope of the project, Liberty's partner is the Partnership for Human Rights non-governmental organization.
The implementation of the project started in July 2022 and is still ongoing. It includes activities such as:
- Break the Stereotype campaign, which included informational and interactive activities for bank employees.
- TV channels covered the topic and brought forward the problems faced by PWDs. A series of trainings on the rights of disabled persons was held for Liberty employees.
- A simplified service for blind persons was introduced in seven branches across Tbilisi which means serving them without a third person.
- People with disabilities were integrated into corporate responsibility projects which creates additional economic opportunities for community members.
- Liberty Bank has created a PWD Advisory Council to work in the main direction of the rights of persons with disabilities.
• A demonstrative adapted branch was created in Marneuli which is monitored by specialists.
