In 2021, the company decided to initiate a long-term project of renewable energy through placing solar panels on the roof of its manufacturing plant. The project consisted of several experts and specialists from technical and productivity teams. The local team managed to install the panels on the most efficient wing of the roof for getting maximum sunlight efficiency. The objective of the project was to minimize influence on the environment, use renewable energy and reach IRR-10%.
Ultimately, 682 panels were installed on the 1,500 square meter roof and 303 KW of energy is produced. The actual six-months IRR is 11% which represents sunlight calculation in energy production. The annual decrease of CO emissions will be 111,000 kg. In the future, the company plans to expand panel installation and increase the amount of CO reduction and renewable energy.
PepsiCo plans to increase this output in 2023 and aims to cover 40-45% of its energy consumption with solar panels.
