Consequently, this project aims to improve the welfare of employees and increase their awareness on preventive health care. The project was launched in 2017 and GEL 20,000 was allocated for its implementation. The plan of the measures to be implemented has been elaborated and marked in the Annual Calendar of Welfare.
The following events have been implemented as of today:
- Annual medical check-ups on-site.
- Anti-flu vaccination funding.
- Annual health assessment through online questionnaire.
- Family doctor visits on-site twice a week.
- Awareness raising session on preventive health care with the participation of doctors.
- Master class conducted by the well-known basketball player, Anatoli Boisa, for employees and their children.
- Granting six-month paid maternity leave to female employees.
- Online sessions on the topics: Stress Management, Sedentary Lifestyle and Management of Personal Finances.
- Installing training equipment and basketball courts at the enterprise.
- Encouraging employees to participate in sports activities.
- Joining the global initiative which envisions the appearance of the following text on employee computers: 'Sit for 60 minutes and move for three minutes.'
- Joining the global charitable initiative, “Ready, Step, Move and Give,” which envisages the calculation of steps through mobile applications that are converted into money by the corporation to finance and help Ethiopian schools with the provision of food.
- Daily delivery of healthy PepsiCo foods to employees.
- Treating company employees with free healthy food at the PepsiCo cafeteria.
- Organizing an international anti-tobacco day and announcing an annual challenge to quit smoking.
- Issuing of a monthly bulletin with tips on health issues.
Results:
Employee participation in the above-mentioned activities is as follows: 45% in 2017 as compared to 70% in 2018 (e.g., visits to the family doctor have increased, five employees quit smoking, 60% of employees got involved in the step counting activity). In the Annual Wellness Certification, we moved to the medium level in 2017 from the initial level and have submitted an application for the excellence level in 2018
