BASALT FIBERS

In 2018, the Basalt Fibers company aimed at not only creating a new public space in Rustavi but also helping the young generation and students to be engaged in the elaboration and implementation of projects. The public space will serve as an urban hub that supports various social groups to engage in social activities. The project is supported by the Architects Union of Bavaria City (Germany), Georgian Technical University (Faculty of Architecture) and Rustavi City Hall. As a result of the workshops held in Rustavi within the framework of the project, the company's board chose a location. Students of the Technical University are being requested to submit their ideas for the further development of the location. Within the framework of the project, students are given an opportunity to work within the space of one academic semester and submit their ideas to the jury in February 2019. The main objective of the competition is to create the concept of an urban center with the active involvement of the youth and the use of ecologically clean and modern materials in this process.
