Natakhtari

Due to the fact that municipal sewage systems are not developed at the appropriate level, the majority of enterprises in the country are forced to direct sewage into nearby natural water systems. The brewery's sewage is very dangerous for ichthyofaunal conditions owing to the high content of organic substances and insoluble additives. Within the framework of its environmental responsibility and for the purpose of reducing environmental damage, the management of Natakhtari has established a modern, high standard sewage treatment plant for the sewage produced during the full cycle of its production. Water which has been cleaned passes through the natural ravine fiows down into the Narekvavi River which then joins the Aragvi River. The water cleaning process encompasses several phases: mechanical (filtration), chemical (pH correction) and biological; the last phase employs innovative technology for the disintegration of anaerobic and aerobic organic pollution which ensures that the water is 90%- 95% clean. Due to the volume of the sewage from the brewery, its impact on nearby settlements and water resources is quite significant. As a result of the start-up of the treatment plan, the threat of polluting the Narekvavi and Aragvi Rivers has reduced to a minimum level together with the risk of a negative impact on the health condition of the IDP population from Akhalgori residing compactly nearby the water dropping point.
