Buckswood International School Tbilisi
Buckswood School recognizes the urgent need to address environmental degradation and the lack of awareness regarding sustainable practices. The school aims to combat excessive waste generation, energy consumption, and water usage through comprehensive sustainability measures and fostering an eco-conscious mindset among students.
To reduce the environmental impact and raise awareness of sustainable living among students, in cooperation with renewable energy company Enovus, Buckswood School installed solar panels on both campuses. Energy-saving technologies, including LED lighting, motion sensors, and energy-efficient appliances, have been installed to further enhance energy efficiency.
In cooperation with NGO Tene, Buckswood School introduced comprehensive recycling programs including waste separation and composting initiatives. Water-saving fixtures have been installed to minimize water usage. Rainwater harvesting systems have been set up to collect and reuse rainwater.
The school integrates environmental education into its curriculum, organizing workshops and hands-on activities that encourage students to adopt eco-friendly habits.
The energy- and water-saving measures significantly decreased the school's utility consumption, reducing its overall environmental impact. Through the waste management programs, the school minimized waste generation and increased recycling rates thus contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable environment. The educational programs improved students' environmental awareness, encouraging them to become sustainability advocates in their communities. The creation of green spaces and biodiversity projects enriched the local ecosystem.
Future objectives include expanding solar energy programs, incorporating sustainability into the curriculum, forming partnerships, and enhancing awareness efforts. Protection of environment is a core value, not a mere policy for Buckswood School.
