Bank of Georgia
The Bank of Georgia's CSR Unit in cooperation with its IT Unit and designers elaborated an application called On the Way (Gzad) in June 2017 for the purpose of decreasing environmental pollution through reducing vehicle emissions and solving the problem of traffic jams in Tbilisi. The application provides the opportunity to periodically leave one's own car at home and comfortably commute to work with one's colleagues. The project focuses on looking after the environment while assisting in improved traffic flows in the city. As an incentive for participation, drivers and passengers using the application will receive points which are collectable and exchangable for various prizes. The project's innovative and positive social influence has received a huge response from the bank's employees as well as from society. From the moment of its launch, 410 Bank of Georgia employees became involved in the project with 5,430 joint commutes having taken place. Statistical data revealed that the green application managed to reduce vehicle emissions by a total of 43,440 kg.
The indirect impact of the project was the establishment of closer relashionships between Bank of Georgia employees which had a positive effect on their levels of satisfaction and motivation. As a result of the project, environmental awareness on the part of employees has risen: through the information campaign held at the bank, employees learned a great deal of information on the harm caused by even one car in the city. The project currently continues to run successfully
