The construction of the Samzeo Hotel, located in the Tusheti region, in the village of Omalo, was completed in July 2019. At 1,880 meters above sea level, it has 43 rooms and is a quality hotel of international standardsbuilton the remaining fragments of an old structure made of local construction materials – pikali (shale). Samzeo is the first hotel in the country being fully supplied with solar energy. To achieve full energy efficiency, a 100-kWsolar power station, the largest in the country, was installed on the roof of the hotel. For the power station project, dark colored shale was intentionally selected which naturally merges with the local landscape. Moreover, the construction of the hotel contributed to the improvement of infrastructure, water supply and sewerage systems in Omalo. The project was implemented by Solar Energy Georgia and Mzis Sakhli (Sun House).

The Samzeo Hotel is a member of the Preferred Group, combining up to 200 boutique type hotels worldwide. The hotel, employing local people, has already hosted its first international and local tourists.
