BANK OF GEORGIA

With the aim of a rational management of natural resources, unused paper has been collected within the company for the purpose of secondary use; however, from August 2017 the Bank of Georgia has taken the decision to implement a more organized and consistent project in this regard. With the purpose of collecting used paper, more than 40 green sacks made of eco-friendly material were placed at the bank's head ofce.

The project was launched with a communication campaign on the reduction of negative impacts on the environment, saving paper and collecting used paper as well as the issue of paper processing. With the purpose of reducing paperwork, the bank's standard receipt was replaced with an electronic one. The sack design was elaborated with a view to encouraging employees to save and collect paper.

The Green Sack campaign has assisted in the awareness raising of the bank's employees on the issue of eco effectiveness and a decreased use of paper. At this point, the collected paper is handed over to the Green Gift social enterprise which uses it for activities of eco-friendly production. The bank's employees receive a monthly statistical report on waste paper collected through the Green Sacks; specically, 11 tons of waste paper were collected as a part of the project between 2017 and 2018 with 187 trees having been saved. Paper usage at the bank has decreased by 70% as a result of the shift to the electronic receipt system.
