In 2017-2018, the Bank of Georgia in cooperation with the Tree of Life Foundation announced two grant competitions with the aim to support and promote social initiatives in society: the decision was made to nance social enterprise format projects with the objective to support environmental protection, education and social issues, employment of persons with disabilities and promote the development of social entrepreneurship. The entries are evaluated and selected by an independent jury.

As a result of the competition in 2017-2018, a total of ten social enterprise projects were nanced with the amount of GEL 400,000 and employing 15 disabled individuals. A part of the sponsored enterprises are already operational and the rest will start work in various regions of Georgia before the end of 2018.

The bank is actively involved in the planning and organizational activities of the competition. The company disseminates information, arranges Open Door Days and offers training and pro bono assistance to contestants. It also monitors the nanced projects and cooperates with the implementer organizations on the long-term maintenance of the results achieved.

Up to now, the Bank of Georgia has implemented more than 100 social, educational, charitable and innovative projects in partnership with its Tree of Life Foundation, the majority of which were selected through the grant competition.
