HEIDELBERGCEMENT
The supporters of the TbilisiMarathon are the Tbilisi Mayor’s Office and the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Georgia.
The 2019 TbilisiMarathon had 2,720 adult participants; moreover, 500 children took part in the kids’ run. As many as 500 people arrived from 55 countries to participate in the race. The number of volunteers actively engaged in organizing the TbilisiMarathon reached 150 this year.
Every year, HeidelbergCement selects a beneficiary to award a monetary sum that is collected through the registration of participants for the TbilisiMarathon which is then doubled by the company. This makes, therefore, every participant and supporter of the race a charity contributor. The beneficiary of the 2018 event, First Step, received GEL 78,280 in total which was the largest amount of award money in the history of the TbilisiMarathon.
The TbilisiMarathon enables its partner companies to share in activities of social responsibility and this cooperation strengthens the team spirit among the employees of the participating organizations. By attracting foreign guests to the event, the TbilisiMarathon brings economic benefit to the country and contributes to the development of sports tourism in Georgia.
