PROCREDIT BANK GEORGIA

Environmental policy:

Three pillars of ProCredit Bank’s environmental policy are:  internal environmental management (reduction of energy, water and paper waste), environmental and social risk management when issuing credits (environmental screening of clients in terms of adverse environmental impact) and green financing (investing special loans in energy efficiency, renewable energy and other “green” projects).

In 2018, the following environmental activities were implemented:  existing bulbs were replaced with LED bulbs, thus saving 100,000 kWh electricity annually; a rain water collecting system was installed which saves up to 600 cubic meters of water annually, electro mobiles and hybrid cars comprise 59 percent of the vehicle fleet and the replacement continues, an electric car charging station was installed in Tbilisi, trainings to raise environmental awareness were conducted for employees, special loans have been provided for those who wanted to buy electric cars and there is a plan to install solar panels with the capacity of 100 kW by the end of 2019.

Responsible Employer

The Bank pays a great deal of attention to the development of its personnel. As of December 2018, 20 percent of employees either studied or already completed studies at ProCredit academies.

Each employee is required to take a leave of at least two consecutive weeks every year, trainings on environmental and ethical code issues are held annually, employees are engaged in the development of newly recruited colleagues and employees may spend their free time at clubs financed by the Bank (travel, yoga, fitness clubs). In 2018, a ProCredit Banking course was created for BTU students. The Bank annually selects motivated students for two to three-month internships aimed to support students in selecting a profession. Last year, four students undertook the internship program with two of them having decided to stay and become employees of the Bank.

Responsibility in the Marketplace

In its activity, the Bank is guided by several key principles:  it appreciates transparency in its relationship with clients, it does not try to encourage consumer loans, it tries to minimize its impact on the environment and it offers service based on the knowledge of the situation of each customer alongside a sound financial analysis.

By offering simple deposit products and services, and investing in financial education, the Bank promotes the culture of financial responsibility and saving.

With its long-term support of small and medium sized businesses (90% of loan investments), the Bank contributes to job creation, raising of environmental awareness and social responsibility. Special attention is paid to local, innovative companies with the potential to develop.

The environmental aspect is a key criterion for selecting suppliers and other partners.

Since the summer of 2019 and for the first time ever in Georgia, the Bank has been offering its clients an innovative video-identification service – a technological alternative to visiting the bank which simplifies service provision and makes it more secure.

Supporting Communities

As a bank that is oriented on development, ProCredit Bank is intensively engaged in activities that have a positive impact on society and the environment and helps establish responsible activity on the Georgian market.

To promote environmental issues, the Bank initiated a green fair enabling producers of organic/bio products to display and sell their produce. The aim of the Bank was to offer a platform to everyone without exception in order to promote and inform broader public about clean production.

The success of each of its clients is important to the Bank. The Bank is proud of its contribution to its clients’ projects and spares no effort to disseminate information about success stories through various marketing campaigns.
