TBC Bank

Environment policy

TBC takes efforts to reduce the direct impact on the environment which means the rational use of natural resources, managing waste and energy efficiency/green criteria in procurement.

In 2019, as compared to the previous years, the use of paper was cut by 50% as a result of digitization. Paper waste collected in head offices is delivered to the company which prints books free of charge for disadvantaged groups. Waste separation was introduced in offices. The Green Page intranet regularly publishes news about green activities and environmental workshops are conducted for employees.

The bank is developing a so-called sustainable portfolio which implies the financing of energy efficient and renewable energy projects. In 2017, TBC was the first company to put forward an initiative to reforest the burned woods in the Borjomi Gorge. With its efforts, 10 hectares of scorched territory will be fully reforested by the end of the year.

In 2018, TBC renewed its vehicle fleet with eco-friendly cars.

Responsible Employer

The care of each TBC employee and their satisfaction is the most important objective of the company.

To create a fair and transparent system of position and salary ranging, TBC, in joint effort with the consulting firm, Mercer, implemented a position classification project in 2018.

The company provides an equal health insurance package for all employees. Life insurance for patients of critical diseases is also available.

The Tbilisi for Tbilisi Citizens Foundation has been established where employees voluntary transfer 1% or 2% of their salaries monthly. The Foundation assists employees and their families in the cases of grave health conditions or a death of family members abroad.

Trainings, lectures and masterclasses are planned to help employees develop and grow. The TBC Academy, an educational platform where Tbilisi citizens can learn various banking and business subjects for free, serves the aim of creating additional prospects for career development.

Responsibility in the Marketplace

The Bank implements an information security policy which includes the protection of personal data. The Bank produced several video projects on financial education, explaining to customers how to use banking products and how to plan personal budgets.

The Bank has an approved procedure for selecting a supplier which ensures the transparency of applications from companies and competitive conditions. It is important that the Bank does not formulate such tender requirements whose need cannot be substantiated and which may artificially restrict competition. The Bank is always ready to involve such companies in projects which have a relatively shorter experience but a genuine potential for development.

The problem and complaint handling process has been put in place and the efficiency of this process is assessed through customer surveys conducted by call centers as well as research agencies.

Supporting Communities

It is important for TBC to care for the preservation of cultural heritage, on the one hand, and to support the introduction of new innovative platforms in the country, on the other hand. This is the principle that the Bank applies to various projects that it implements in order to make positive changes in public life.

Among the implemented projects are:  #writeinGeorgian which includes advocating for using the Georgian alphabet when writing, organizing a competition of fonts and digitizing a Georgian-English dictionary. Furthermore, the first Georgian-language artificial intelligence platform, kartulad.ge, was created jointly with Microsoft which aims to integrate the Georgian language into Microsoft programs.

The TBC for Business program serves the aim of supporting small and medium businesses in Georgia. The Startuper / startup.ge project promotes startups and improves the startup environment. A scholarship program assists 200 gifted children from socially disadvantaged families in improving the conditions that are necessary for their education and development.
